All Three Former State Am Champions in Top 15 at Barclays

All three Utah State Amateur champions on the PGA Tour are among the leaders at the halfway point of the Barclays Classic being held at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey.

Tony Finau leads the Utahns and is in second place just one shot behind leader Bubba Watson. Finau was tied for the lead after his first round of 65, but his second round of 69 left him one stroke short of Watson. Also tied with Finau are Henrik Stensen, Jason Dufner, and Zach Johnson.

Daniel Summerhays and Zac Blair are tied for 15th place, just four shots behind the leader and three shots short of Finau.

The tournament is also the first round of the FedEx elimination process. How does the FedEx point system work?

The players with the top 125 FedEx points earn a spot in the field at The Barclays which is the first of four FedEx Playoff events. Going into the Barclays Tony Finau was ranked 39th, Daniel Summerhays was ranked 66th, and Zac Blair was ranked 106th.

The next tournament, the Duetsche Bank Championship, will only include the top 100 point winners, which means that Blair will need to have a strong finish in the Barclays in order to keep advancing in the FedEx Cup. He is off to a good start and a strong finish will advance him another week. It is a slow process of elimination.
