Seven Utahns Compete in Southwestern Amateur
Seven players from Utah played in the 100th Southwestern Amateur this past week at Desert Mountain golf course in Scottsdale, Arizona. Patrick Fishburn turned in the best performance of the Utahns with an 11th place finish. He got one stroke better with every round as he posted scores of 72-71-70-69-282. He finished seven shots out of the lead.
Devon Purser finished in 30th place with rounds of 72-68-72-76-288. Jordan Rodgers started strong on rounds of 68-73, but dropped down the leaderboard with finishing rounds of 80-78 for a 299 tourney total. Dalton Stanger also finished at 299 on rounds of 70-76-78-75.
Utahns not making the cut were Joe Parkinson, 86th on rounds of 71-78-149; Luke Crapo, 113th on rounds of 74-79-153; and Brandon Kida, 138th on rounds of 79-79-158.
