Rodgers, Crawford Take Early Lead in UGA Mid-Am at Valley View

The first round of the three-day 54-hole UGA Mid-Amateur Championship didn’t do much to separate the field at Valley View Golf Course. There were 19 players at par or better and Jordan Rodgers and Cameron Crawford have a grip on the top rung of the scoring ladder with five under par scores of 67. Robbie Fillmore trails only by one with a 68.

Jordan Rodgers, who has just completed his final year at BYU, had five birdies and an eagle along with two bogeys. Cameron Crawford’s score came on five birdies and no bogeys. Former BYU player Robbie Fillmore burned the greens with eight birdies, but he had four bogeys to keep him one shot behind the leaders.

There are three divisions of play based on age with the Mid-Am including players 25 and over, the Masters at 40 and over, and the Senior Division at 50 and over

Brandon Hargett took the lead in the Masters (40 and over) Division with a 70 and his brother Jason, last year’s champion in both the Mid-Am and Masters Division, shot an opening round of 74.

Kirk Siddens and Paul Cannon share the lead in the Senior Division with even par scores of 72.
