Mid-Am, State Am Qualifyings Top Week’s Busy Tournament Schedule
The 117th Utah State Amateur, the longest continuously held tournament in the world, gets the qualifying portion of the tournament underway this week with two qualifying rounds at Wingpointe on Tuesday and Wednesday and a third one on Friday at Thanksgiving Point.
The 54-hole Utah Mid-Am will also be held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at Valley View and it is also a qualifying of sorts for the Utah State Am as five State Am exemptions will be earned at the tournament. The top three finishers at the Mid-Am (25 and older) will be granted exemptions to the State Am, and the winners of the Masters (40 and over) and Senior (50 and over) divisions will also earn State Am spots.
Jason Hargett is the defending champion of the Mid-Am. Robbie Fillmore won it in 2013 and Greg Wojtkun won in 2012.
The Valley View site continues a long history of strong Mid-Am tournament sites. The most recent sites have been Hobble Creek, Talons Cove, Victory Ranch, Alpine CC, and Hubbard Golf Course at Hill Air Force Base.
