Utah State’s Seokwon Jeon Finishes 28th at 2015 Mountain West Men’s Golf Championship

TUCSON, Ariz. – Utah State junior golfer Seokwon Jeon shot a final round of 1-over 72 to finish in 28th-place with a 6-over 219 at the 2015 Mountain West Men’s Golf Championship held here Sunday at the par 71, 7,144-yard Catalina Course at Omni Tucson National Resort.

Utah State finished the 11-team tournament in ninth-place with a 32-over 884 (295-298-291) and was just three strokes away from tying for eighth.

San Diego State won the Mountain West Championship with a 17-under 835 (280-280-275), while UNLV finished second with a 16-under 836 (273-276-287) and Nevada placed third with a 10-under 842 (280-277-285). Two-time defending champion New Mexico was fourth with a 9-under 843 (282-286-275), Colorado State was fifth with a 13-over 865 (287-287-291), Boise State was sixth with a 20-over 872 (295-286-291), San Jose State was seventh with a 22-over 874 (293-289-292), Wyoming was eighth with a 29-over 881 (295-288-298), USU was ninth with a 32-over 884 (295-298-291), Air Force was 10th with a 34-over 886 (296-291-299), and Fresno State was 11th with a 37-over 889 (293-301-295).

UNLV’s Kurt Kitayama won the individual title with an 11-under par 202 (65-65-72).

Jeon began the tournament by carding an even-par 71 on Friday, before shooting a 5-over 76 during his second round and a 1-over 72 during his final 18 holes for his 6-over 219, which placed him 28th. Senior Zach Waxler tied for 30th-place at 8-over 221 (76-72-73), senior Grahm Schmaltz tied for 36th-place at 9-over 222 (76-73-73), sophomore Eli Rogers tied for 44th-place at 13-over 226 (73-80-73) and sophomore McCoy Willey tied for 48th-place at 14-over 227 (75-77-75).

The 2015 Mountain West Championships concludes Utah State's season.
