Zobell Shoots 63, Wins Spanish Oaks Open; Hughes Tops Amateurs

Tracy Zobell, the head pro at Gladstan, made two eagles and seven birdies and posted a final round of 63 to pull away from a crowded leaderboard and win the Spanish Oaks Open. Zobell shot a middle of the pack two under par 70 in the first round, but his final round of 63, a 31 on the front and a 32 on the back, catapulted him to the win.

Brady Hughes and Mark Owen finished second, two shots back of Zobell, and Hughes was the low amateur in the field with rounds of 67-68-135.  Dan Horner was the next low amateur with a 70-67-137.

It was a strong field and attracted most of the area’s top professionals and amateurs.
