Utah State’s McCoy Willey Tied For 10th-Place Following First Two Rounds of Cowboy Classic
CHANDLER, Ariz. – Utah State sophomore golfer McCoy Willey is currently tied for 10th-place with a 4-under 140 (73-67) following the first two rounds of the Wyoming hosted Cowboy Classic held here Monday at the Whirlwind Golf Club.
Utah State is currently tied for 13th-place in the 18-team field with a 3-over 579 (293-286). UC Davis leads the tournament with a 20-under 556 (278-278), while Colorado’s David Oraee (68-68) and UC Davis’ Mike Brockington (65-71) are tied for first at 6-under 136.
Willey began the tournament with a 1-over 73 before carding his collegiate-low round during his second 18 holes with a 5-under 67 to sit tied for 10th-place with a 4-under 140 and four shots behind the leaders. Senior Zach Waxler is tied for 56th-place at 1-over 145 (71-74), fellow senior Grahm Schmaltz is tied for 60th-place at 2-over 146 (73-73), junior Seokwon Jeon is tied for 70th-place at 4-over 148 (76-72), and sophomore Eli Rogers is in 96th-place at 12-over 156 (76-80).
