Utah Golf Currently Tied for Fifth at Duck Invitational

EUGENE, Ore. – Utah men’s golf wrapped up day one of the Duck Invitational in a tie for fifth-place on Monday at Eugene Country Club.

 

The Utes shot a first-round 290 (+2) and then carded a second-round 306 (+18) on the way to a total of 596 (+20) heading into Tuesday’s final round.

 

Utah is currently tied with Oregon (299-297=596) and the team is 17 shots back of Arizona State, who leads the tournament with a two-round total of 579 (+3).

 

Junior Brandon Kida carded a two-under par (70) in the first round and then posted a two-over par (74) in round two to lead the Utes and sit in a tie for sixth-place overall with a two-round total of 144 (E). Kida is currently two strokes behind Arizona State’s John Rahm, who leads the tournament with a score of two-under par (71-71=142).

 

Senior Jack Maerki currently sits in a tie for 28th after carding a 72 (E) and 78 (+6), while both juniors Jonathan Thomas (74-77) and Max McGrail (74-77) are in a tie for 37th after posting two-round scores of 151 (+7).

 

Junior Jose Pelayo (75-85) rounded out Utah’s scoring and sits in a tie for 71st with a two-round score of 160 (+16).

 

Utah is back in action for the final round of the Duck Invitational on Tuesday. The Utes will be paired with Oregon, Pacific and San Jose State in the final round.
