SUU Men’s Golf Rallies for Top-10 Finish in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Southern Utah men’s golf team finished the Sacramento State Intercollegiate in ninth place after battling back in the final two rounds. Sammy Cole finished tied for 19th as the top individual Thunderbird.

SUU finished the first round of the Intercollegiate tied for 11th after shooting a 22-over-par 310. Cole finished the first round at even-par 72, with Fidel Concepcion and Tim Leonard each adding a 79.

The Thunderbirds went out in round two and improved on their round one score by 17-strokes on their way to shooting a 293. Jameson Keiley finished round two with a 1-under-par 71 and Nic Booth would add an even-par 72.

SUU was back on day two of the tournament with Booth shooting a 1-over-par 73 and Keiley shooting a 2-over-par 74. The team shot a 9-over-par 297 in round three to finish the tournament at an even 900 and in ninth place overall.

Booth and Keiley both finished tied for 35th individually and Concepcion finished tied for 60th.

The SUU men’s golf team heads to Goodyear, Ariz. next for the Desert Shootout on Mar. 19.
