WSU Wildcats Rally to 12th Place Finish at Red Rocks
SEDONA, Ariz. — The Weber State women's golf team moved three spots up the leadboard over the final 18 holes of the Red Rocks Invitational on Tuesday to finish 12th at the Oak Creek Country Club.
Emily Podlesny and Kaceelyn Pouttu led the charge as the pair finished in a tie for 11th overall with tournament totals of 150. Podlesny shot a one-over-par 73 on Tuesday for the team's low score, while Pouttu was only one shot back with a final round 74.
Tournament host Northern Arizona earned the team title, shooting a two-round total of 597. The Lumberjacks finished five shots ahead of second place Cal Poly.
Grand Canyon, who finished third at 606, was led by tournament co-medalist Charlotte Jaengkit. Jaengkit shot rounds of 69 and 75 for an even-par 144. Nebraska-Omaha's Sophie Peters shot back-to-back rounds of 72 to match Jaengkit at 144.
Nyomy Obcemea shot 160 for Weber State, earning a tie for 80th overall, while Haylee Chugg and Kristie Jensen tied for 90th at 162. McCall Uyematsu and Lexi Albi played as individuals for the Wildcats. Uyematsu shot 169 to tie for 108th, while Albi shot 181 to tie for 127th.
The Wildcats will be back on the links March 12-13 at the SUU Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George, Utah.
