Wildcats Finish 13th at Grand Canyon Invite
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. — The Weber State women's golf team wrapped up play at the Grand Canyon Spring Invitational on Wednesday at the Wigwam Golf Resort, finishing 13th in the 21-team field.
The Wildcats shot rounds of 312, 314 and 318 for a total of 944 for the three-day event. WSU was led by Emily Podlesny, who followed an opening-round 76 with a pair of 77's for a 14-over-par 230, which placed her in a tie for 22nd overall.
UC Riverside claimed the team title, shooting 895 for an eight shot victory over tournament host Grand Canyon, who finished second. Northern Arizona finished third another seven shots back at 910.
Kaceelyn Pouttu contributed a 32nd place finish for the Wildcats behind rounds of 79, 76 and 77 for a total of 232.
Kristie Jensen shot 240 to tie for 71st, while Nyomy Obcemea tied for 81st at 242 and Haylee Chugg tied for 97th at 252.
The Wildcats will remain in Arizona for another tournament this weekend, as they will move to Oakcreek Country Club in Sedona to compete in the Red Rocks Invitational, which will be held Friday and Saturday.
