Utah Valley’s Eriksen Named WAC Golfer of the Week
DENVER—Utah Valley University senior Brayden Eriksen has been named the Western Athletic Conference men's golfer of the Week for Feb. 9-15.
Eriksen, from Qualicum Beach, B.C., Canada (Kwalikum HS), finished in a tie for third place at the Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George, Utah. He finished the two-round tournament with a 6-under par 138 after holding the first round lead with a 7-under 65. Eriksen's third place finish helped the Wolverines to a third place team finish at the event.
“Brayden had a great tournament,” said Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran. “He understands his game and is a great putter. Hopefully this is just the beginning of a great spring season.”
Eriksen and the rest of the Utah Valley men's golf team will be back in action Feb. 22-24 at the Snowman Getaway at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
Others nominees: Grand Canyon junior Brett Wilson took second at the Carlton Oaks WIU Invitational, carding a 10-over 226 … Seattle U freshman Joe Harvie finished tied for 17th at the Barona Collegiate Cup, shooting a 2-under 214 in the 75-player field.
