The Future of Salt Lake City Golf

The Salt Lake City Council will make a final recommendation to Mayor Ralph Becker on the future of their golf program on Tuesday, February 24th.  The council is considering closing some of the city golf courses.  Many of these facilities have been providing recreation and other benefits to your respective communities for over 50 years.  If closed, they will be lost forever.  This will not only be a loss for patrons of the courses, but to all citizens who benefit from having assets like these courses in their respective communities.

The time is now to have your voice heard.  Please contact your council member and forward this e-mail to members of your community who would like to keep and improve these facilities for all to enjoy in future years.  This is a passionate issue for all golfers but when contacting the council please be respectful in your comments.  Please feel free to list the district in which you reside.

Below is a sample e-mail that you may use if you wish.  Simply cut and paste the text below into your e-mail and send to your respective council member:

If you plan to use this e-mail please update the note below with your council member's name and your information.

Dear ______,

Please consider the tremendous negative impact our community will experience with the closure of one or more Salt Lake City golf courses.  Many of these facilities have been providing recreation and other benefits to our respective communities for over 50 years.  If any courses are closed, it would be a significant loss, not only for the patrons of the courses, but to all citizens who benefit from having assets like these facilities in their respective communities.

Thank you for your service on the city council and for hearing my concerns on this important issue.

Regards,
