Check out what has been happening in Utah Golf.
Chugg Takes Full Time UGA Position as Membership Director
In January Kelsey Chugg took a position as USGA P.J. Boatwright Jr. Intern for the Utah Golf Association in hopes that it could lead her to a job in golf administration sometime. She just recently completed her internship and sure enough it has led to a full time job in golf administration.
UGA Executive Director Bill Walker announced today that Chugg has been hired as Director of Member Services at the UGA effective immediately and that gets her a room down the hall, a pat on the back, more money in the bank, and long term employment.
“She has done a great job as a UGA Intern and is ideal for taking over the task of UGA Membership Director,” said Walker. “We are focusing on Member Services as our top priority and she has the knowledge, skill, and personality to lead us in this area,” he said.
This fills the vacancy created when Jeremy Bates, the UGA Director of IT and Member Services, advanced his career by taking a position at the University of Utah.
“We have decided to outsource our IT needs and place greater emphasis on Member Services,” Walker said.
Chugg, a two-time Utah State Women’s Amateur champion, had been contemplating making another attempt to qualify for the LPGA Tour, but the job offer with the UGA helped make up her mind.
She played on the Weber State golf team and graduated summa cum laude last April. She was Academic and Athletic All American for three years. She was born in Ogden, but grew up in Arizona.
“I am looking forward to growing the UGA by working closely with UGA members, member clubs, club professionals, and golfers at all Utah golf courses,” she said.
