Weber State Wins Three Team Tourney at Blue Lakes
TWIN FALLS, Idaho — A trio of Wildcat golfers topped the leaderboard at the Blue Lakes Invitational on Monday, leading the Weber State women’s golf team to its second tournament victory of the fall season.
Kristie Jensen and Emily Podlesny each shot totals of eight-over-par 152 to tie for individual medalist honors, while Kaceelyn Pouttu finished in third, just two strokes back of her teammates.
The Wildcats shot rounds of 305 and 310 as a team for a total of 615. Utah Valley finished second at 641, while Idaho State finished third at 696.
Podlesny shot the low round of the tournament with a first round 74, and followed up with a 78 in the afternoon, while Jensen fired rounds of 77 and 75. Pouttu went 75-79 on the day for her third place finish.
Madi Rooker shot rounds of 80 and 78 to finish tied for fourth, giving the Wildcats four of the top five finishers of the event. Utah Valley’s Cassandra Lesa joined the group, shooting a pair of 79’s.
WSU’s Nyomy Obcemea, who was playing as an individual in the tournament, joined her four teammates in the top-10 with a total of 162 to finish 7th.
Haylee Chugg rounded out the Wildcat scoring team, shooting 171 to finish 12th, while McCall Uyematsu tied for 16th as an individual at 181.
The Wildcats also scored a win to open the season, sharing co-championship honors with Utah Valley in the Wildcat Invitational at Davis Park Golf Course on Aug. 29.
