Siegfried and Jensen Utah Open Begins Friday Morning at Riverside

The Siegfried and Jensen Utah Open begins Friday at Riverside Country Club with 10 former champions in the field representing 11 years of the tournament. Clay Ogden is the only recent double winner of the tournament, claiming the title in 2007 and again in 2011.
Zach Johnson is the defending champion and is playing near the top of his game. He tees off at 12:50 on number ten along with former champions Pete Stone, and Nathan Lashley.
Other former champions in the field are Utahns Mike Malaska, Pete Stone, Kim Thompson, and Jimmy Blair. Out-of-state former champions playing again this year are JB Sneave, James Drew, Nathan Lashley, and Nick Mason.
The two assistant professionals at Riverside Country Club, Chris Moody and Matt Baird, must also be considered among the favorites. Moody is paired with former Cougar and PGA Tour player Dean Wilson and former champion Steve Freisen at 1 p.m. off the number one tee.
Darrin Overson, who won the Centennial Utah State Amateur at Riverside Country Club, is one of the top amateurs in the field. He is in the first threesome to tee off Friday morning at 7:30. The traditional threesome to start on number ten includes tournament sponsors Ned Siegfried and Mitch Jensen and KSL newscaster Rod Zundel.
Reigning Utah State Amateur champion champion Jon Wright is paired with former State Am champions, Cole Ogden and Dan Horner off number 10 tee at 1:30.
