Horner Wins Burton Lumber SLC Open; Baird Tops Pros
Former Utah State Amateur champion Dan Horner shot 69-66-135 to win the Burton Lumber Salt Lake City Open played at Bonneville and Wingpointe golf courses this past weekend. His score not only topped all the amateurs, but was also better than all the pros. Another past State Am champion, Darrin Overson, finished third with rounds of 71-66-137.
Matt Baird won low professional honors with a 70-66-136 tally and fellow Riverside Country Club assistant pro Chris Moody won second place pro money and was fourth overall with rounds of 71-67-138.
Horner made eight birdies at Wingpointe, including five in a row on holes four through eight.
Darrin Overson played bogey free at Wingpointe and made an eagle on the par five 16th hole.
