Parkinson, Crapo Earn Spots in U.S. Amateur

Joe Parkinson shot a second round 66 and came from behind to earn medalist honors in the United States Amateur Qualifying round at Park Meadows Country Club Monday. He shot a 71 in the morning round and trailed the first round leader Kurt Owen by three shots at the halfway point. Parkinson birdied each of the par fives in both rounds.
Luke Crapo won the other qualifying spot with a seven shot turnaround. He shot 70 in the morning and then another solid 70 in the afternoon for a 140 total.
There were four players tied for the two alternate positions at three under par 141, but Justin Keiley and Kurt Owen were the only two there for the playoff and they were awarded the spots.
The United States Amateur will be held at The Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Georgia, August 11-17.
The qualifiers were:
137- Joe Parkinson, 71-66
140- Luke Crapo, 70-70
141- Justin Keiley, 74-67; Christian Jensen, 71-70; Kenny You, 70-71; Kurt Owen, 68-73
