Powars Wins Senior Am Title; Simkins Tops Super Seniors

Jeff Powars, the only player in the field to shoot three straight rounds in the 60s, won the UGA Senior Amateur title Saturday on the Lake Course at Wasatch Mountain State Park. Powars shot steady scores of 69-69-67-205 to win by just two shots over Brett Sampson who shot 69-70-68-207. Powars shot a bogey free final round 67.
It was the third year the UGA Senior Am has been 54-holes. In the past it has been 36-holes.
Al Simkins easily won the Super Senior title (65 and over) with rounds of 71-70-141, seven shots ahead of Brent Marriott who posted rounds of 75-73-148. The Super Senior Division played only 36 holes.
