Blair Finishes Seventh, Finau 16th at Nova Scotia Web.Com Event;

Former Utah State Amateur champions Zac Blair and Tony Finau are riding high these days and their performances have put some zest in the upcoming Utah Championship of the Web.com Tour at Willow Creek Country Club later this week. The two popular Utah golfers will certainly give a big boost to attendance at the tournament that starts Thursday and concludes on Sunday.
Blair and Finau both had outstanding performances in this week’s Web.com Nova Scotia Championship.  Blair finished in seventh place on rounds of 72-69-67-70-278 and Finau was two shots back in 16th place on rounds of 70-69-68-73-280.  Finau finished fourth in a previous Web.com event and if he maintains his current ranking he will earn his PGA Tour Card for next year. Blair finished 40th in the U.S. Open and that performance has opened doors for him.
Information as to how Blair got a spot to play in the Nova Scotia event was not readily available, but his high finish would normally gain him entrance into the next week’s tournament anyway. Whether that opens up another exemption for the local committee is also not known.
With the rising fortunes of the two former Utah State Am champions the Web.com event at Willow Creek takes on a much greater local interest.
Ironically, the Utah State Amateur is also being played this week at the Ogden Golf and Country Club and Valley View. The State Am is played Monday through Saturday and the Web.com event is played Thursday through Sunday. The Utah State Am championship match will be played Saturday at Ogden Golf and Country Club and the Web.com final round will be played Sunday at Willow Creek.
