Blair, Schneiter, Malaska Advance to PGA Senior Championship

Jimmy Blair and Steve Schneiter finished in the top ten of the Senior PGA National Championship held this week at PGA Golf Club Wanamaker and Ryder Courses in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and another Utahn, Mike Malaska finished in 27th place.
The tournament also served as a qualifying for the Senior PGA Championship and those three Utahns qualified. Players who finished in the top 35 qualified. The Senior PGA Championship will be played later in the year at Benton Harbor, Michigan.
Blair finished seventh with rounds of 73-66-73-73-285 and Schneiter finished tenth with rounds of 72-74-73-67-286. Malaska shot 75-69-75-71-290.
Scores of other Utahns were as follows:
297- Mike Borich, 72-76-73-76 (67th place)
Missing the cut were:
Larry Emery, 78-71
Bill Harvey, 74-75
Jeff Thomsen, 77-80
Roy Christensen, 74-85
