Horner, Wright, Jolley Advance to USGA Mid-Am

Three Utahns qualified for the USGA Mid-Am Championship Monday at Park Meadows Country Club. Former Utah State Am champions Dan Horner and Jon Wright shot 70 and 71 respectively to earn the first two spots.
Four players tired for the third spot with 72s with Jeff Jolley winning the ensuing playoff with birdies on the first and seventh holes.
Tom Musselman, of Colorado, also birdied the first hole and became first alternate when Jolley birdied the seventh hole.
Jason Hargett and Paul Winterowd failed to birdie the first hole and continued in a playoff for second alternate which was won by Hargett.
The national championship will be held October 5-10 at Birmingham Country Club in Alabama.
