Fillmore Wins UGA Mid-Am; Jolley Takes Masters Title
Rob Fillmore shot a final round 68 to win the UGA Mid-Am championship Saturday at Talons Cove by two shots over a foursome of players in second place. He shot rounds of 68-71-68-207 for a nine under par tally for the 54 holes.
Jeff Jolley, Dan Horner, Jed Rammell and second round leader Adam Tebbs finished two shots back at seven under par 209.
Jolley was also entered in the Masters Division (40 years of age and older) and he won that title by seven shots over Jon Wright.
Fillmore, who played four years at BYU and graduated in 2010, tried professional golf for several years, but was reinstated as an amateur this March. He now works for Diversify Investments as a securities representative.
His bogey free opening round was “a comfortable start for me. I hit 17 greens and the day was pretty stress free.”
His final round started with two birdies and then, after a bogey on five, and eagled the par five seventh hole by hitting driver, then a 4-hybrid 245 yards to ten feet and made the putt. He birdied the ninth hole to finish the front side with a 32.
Christian Jensen had the best round of the final day with a 67. It moved him into sixth place after opening rounds of 74-70.
