Casper Edges Blair for Kramer Salt Lake City Am Title
Mason Casper shot rounds of 69-69-138 to win the Dick Kramer Salt Lake City Amateur Sunday by one stroke over Zac Blair. Casper has just completed his collegiate career at Utah Valley University.
Casper’s pair of 69s included a double bogey in each round, His final round double bogey came on the sixth hole and was softened somewhat because it had been preceded by an eagle on the first hole and he was four under par after the first five holes. Still he barely avoided a playoff when Blair bogeyed the final hole.
A trio of players finished in third place including Blair’s teammates at BYU Justin Keiley (68-72), and Mike Jurca (72-68); and 15-year-old Rhett Rasmussen (70-70).
Reigning Utah State Amateur champion and a past winner of the SLC Amateur, Jon Wright, finished at 141 along with Scott Clark (71-70), Carl Jensen (70-71), Matthew Seppanen (72-69) and Kenny You (70-71).
There were six players at 143. There were 40 players who scored under 150.
