Utah Golfers Hit Jackpot at Saltwater Classic in Wyoming; Fox, Keiley Win Titles
Utah golfers hit the jackpot at the Wind River Casino Saltwater Classic golf tournament held this past weekend at Riverton Country Club in Wyoming.
Derek Fox, formerly a top Utah amateur who has turned professional, won top money in a playoff with Nick Mason. They each shot nine under par 207. Fox shot 67-70-70. He recently became an official Utah PGA apprentice pro and is eligible for all Utah PGA events. He finished second at the Sun River Open last month.
Other Utah professionals finishing high in the tournament were Todd Tanner in third place, Joe Summerhays in fifth place, Alexander Theodore and Dustin Pimm sharing seventh place, Clay Ogden in 11th place and Kyle Chappell in a tie for 12th place.
Utahns also dominated the amateur side with Justin Keiley besting his BYU teammate Zac Blair by four shots. Keiley shot 71-65-73-209 while Blair shot three straight 71s for a 213 score. Blair beat his dad Jimmy by four shots.
To add to Utah’s dominance Dan Parkinson won the B Flight Amateur title with 76-76-81-233.
