Wichita State Tops Cougars By Two at Desert Classic

BYU held a 16 stroke lead going into the final round of the Desert Shootout at Goodyear Golf Course in Arizona, but Wichita posted the best round of the tournament to come from behind to overtake the Cougars at the finish.
Rafael Baker led the way for the Shockers with a brilliant final round 66 to add to his first two rounds of 68 for a 202 finish. He was medalist by just one stroke over San Diego State’s Alex Ching who opened with a 64 but eventually gave way to the sparkling finishing play by Baker.
BYU had three players in the top ten. Justin Keiley finished third, Zac Blair finished in a tie for fourth, and Cole Ogden finished in a tie for sixth.
Southern Utah University also played in the tournament but finished 14th in a 15-team field.
