2013 Season Begins Like 2012, Blair Wins Coral Canyon Am

Here we go again!
The 2013 Utah golf season got underway this past weekend at the Coral Canyon Amateur and for the second straight year Zac Blair won the title.
Last year Blair won the first six tournaments he played in and so after winning the first one this year the natural question is how many more can he win before his skein is broken? The St. George Amateur is on the agenda this Friday and Saturday and he is entered, and thus is the favorite.
Blair has compiled a remarkable record at the Coral Canyon Am. He has won the title four of the past five years and this year he posted his best score in the event, 69-68-137. In 2009 and 2010 he won the title with scores of 138. In 2011 he shot a 139 but his BYU teammate Cameron Edens shot 138 to edge him for the title. Last year he won it with a 141 total.
Runnerup honors in this year’s Coral Canyon Am went to Dixie’s Kenny You with a score of 140. Mike Jurca was third with a one under par 143, six shots behind Blair. Joe Parkinson, who has recently returned from an LDS mission, shot even par 144 to finish fourth. Blair and Parkinson are both former Utah State Am champions.
Sadie Palmer, the only woman in the tournament, won the first flight and Mike Jorgensen won the senior division by four shots with a three under par score of 141. Jim Kane was second.
