UGA Announces Dates of First Three Tournaments of the Year, All in St. George Area
The Utah Golf Association has added the UGA Women’s Spring Open to its opening season tournament schedule which gives the UGA a tournament in St. George for three consecutive months it was recently announced by Bill Walker, UGA Executive Director. The new tournament is in addition to the popular UGA Two-Man Championship and the UGA Winterchamps events. Actually the new tournament isn’t really new, it’s just under the UGA management for the first time. The tournament has previously been the responsibility of the Utah Women’s Golf Association, but that organization ended operations at the end of last year and turned its programs over to the UGA. The tournament will be held on April 15th and 16th at Bloomington Country Club and Coral Canyon.
The first two UGA championships of 2013 will be held on the 16th and 17th of February and March. The February event will be the UGA Two-Man Championship and will be held at Sand Hollow Resort and the March tourney will be the traditional UGA Winterchamps, also at Sand Hollow, but includes Sky Mountain as well.
Both tournaments have an entry fee of $160 per person and “We are accepting entries for both events,” Walker said.
“We are looking forward to the Women’s Spring Open. It gives the UGA a tournament in the St. George area for three months in a row” Walker said.
The Spring Open format calls for a 2-woman scramble the first day and a four-ball the second day which is similar to the UGA’s format for the UGA Two-Man Championship.
The entry fee for that tournament is $175 per person that includes range balls, carts, and merchandise prizes.
