Vegas Amateur Leads Nevada Open byh Four; Fielding Shoots 62, Leads Pros
Kevin Penner, an amateur from Las Vegas, shot his second straight 63 to jump to a four shot lead going into the final round of the Nevada Open in Mesquite, Nevada.
Dusty Fielding, from Richfield, who just earned partial status on the PGA Tour, leads all professionals with an opening round of 68 and a second round 62 at for a two day total of 130.
Other Utahns who made the cut were Jimmy Blair at 69-67-133, Kyle Chappell at 71-66-137, Matt Baird at 69-69-138, and Randall McCracken at 69-71-140.
The cutline came at 140 and eliminated a bunch of Utahns that included Tony Finau and Casey Fowles at 141, Tele Wightman at 142, Gary Knight and Derek Fox at 143, Gipper Finau at 145, Nathan Page at 147, Tommyh Forsman at 149, and Kury Reynolds at 150.
