Zach Johnson, Joe Summerhays Finish Sixth at National PGA Assistants Championship

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – The Utah Section of the PGA was well represented this year at the 36th National Car Rental PGA Assistant Championship presented by COBRA PUMA GOLF. Joe Summerhays, Zach Johnson, and Troy Watkins made the trip to PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida to compete in the National Assistant Championship. Both Summerhays and Johnson made the cut after the first 2 rounds, started the weekend in the top 10, and both finished at -6 tied for 6th place!
Joe Summerhays, Glen Eagle GC Assistant Pro, 72-68-74-68–282. Zach Johnson, Davis Park GC Assistant Pro, 69-69-74-70–282.
The 2012 field featured the top-4 finishers from last year’s Championship as well as 122 players who advanced through their PGA Section Championships. For nearly 40 years, the National Car Rental PGA Assistant Championship presented by COBRA PUMA GOLF has featured a field of outstanding PGA Professionals who have gone onto successful careers in teaching and administering the game, as well as competing at the highest level.
Jake Scott of Strongsville, Ohio, won the Championship finishing at -17, 271 total.
