John Taylor Elected to Lead UGA in 2013 Season
At a recent meeting of the Utah Golf Association Board of Directors John Taylor, of East Bay Golf Club, was elected president of the association for the coming year. Other officers elected were Jim Harland, Soldier Hollow, as vice-president; Karen White, Ogden Golf and Country Club, as secretary; and Steve Brinton, The Country Club, as treasurer.
This is Taylor’s ninth and last year on the UGA Board. He has previously served on the executive committee as the treasurer and understands the need for budgeting, planning, administration and financial controls. His experience has been invaluable to the UGA.
“We have an outstanding, hard-working staff, and some very talented and experienced board members, and I’m looking forward to working with them in planning and executing another outstanding year for the UGA,” Taylor said.
Karen White has served on the executive committee for the past two years, and this will be the first time on the executive committee for Jim Harland and Steve Brinton.
Taylor was born and raised in Magrath, Alberta, Canada and graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy degree. His first job out of college was in the telecommunications industry (GTE) and later the entertainment industry for about 20 years including Osmond Communications, Comworld Communications and the LDS Motion Picture Studio.
He has been an executive producer on a feature film, a movie for the Disney Channel and a six-part children’s show for HBO. For the last number of years, John has also been involved in land development and single family housing construction.
