Blake in Fourth But Unlikely to Repeat at Charles Schwab Cup finale
Jay Don Blake’s second round of one over par 71 is going to haunt his opening round of 64 and his third round of 65 and is probably going to keep him from defending his Charles Schwab Cup championship. After three rounds he stands at ten under par but that is seven shots behind the leader, Tom Lehman, and six shots behind Tom Couples, who each shot remarkable third rounds of eight under par 62.Jay Haas, one day after a Tour-record-tying 60, could only muster a 69. He’s at 15 under and it’s unlikely that Blake can leap frog over all three of them.If Lehman wins he also will become the first player to repeat as the Charles Schwab Cup champion.
