Brighton Wins Playoff Over Lone Peak for 5A Prep Title

In a dramatic playoff Brighton won the Class 5A Utah High School golf championship over Lone Peak by virtue of Jake Byers sinking a knee-knocking four-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole at Riverbend Golf Course.
Brighton went into the second round of play with a nine-stroke lead, but Lone Peak had a strong second day and the two teams were deadlocked at the end of the 36-hole tournament..
Each team sent four players into the playoff and the birdie by Byers made the difference.
Austin Banz of West won the medalist honors with rounds of 67-70-137 with Granger’s Henry Leng finishing two shots back.
