Utah Team Struggles at USGA Men’s State Team Championship

Utah isn’t faring so well at the USGA Men’s State Team Championship and fell from 33rd place to 40th place after the second round of the three round tournament being held at Galloway Gardens in Galloway, New Jersey.
Dan Horner and Jeff Jolley provided the two counting scores for the team with Horner shooting 76 and Jolley shooting 77. State Am champion Jon Wright struggled in with an 86.
Utah’s two-day total is 307 on rounds of 154 and 153. Arch rival Arizona that was tied with Utah after the first day moved up to 22nd place and stands seven shots ahead of Utah going into Friday’s final round.
“The course is really difficult and the greens demand pinpoint placement of approach shots to assure two putts,” commented team captain John Taylor. “We’ll probably score better tomorrow since course knowledge is quite critical to scoring,” he added.
