Despite Triple Bogey Nick Drost Wins Dick Kramer SLC Amateur Title

Despite a triple bogey on the first hole Nick Drost came back to win the Dick Kramer Salt Lake City Amateur at Bonneville Golf Course Sunday by one shot over former champions Kirk Siddens and Jon Wright. Drost, a Brighton High graduate who just completed his college play at Dixie State, shot rounds of 68-71-139. Wright and Siddens, who also shot opening rounds of 68, finished at 72 on the final day. Preston Richards, who shared the first round lead with a 68, fell off to a 75 the second day.

The best second day score was a 66 posted by Matt Bushman, but his first round score of 76 left him in a tie for sixth place, a negative turnaround of ten shots. Lance Richards had the biggest positive turn around. He shot an 81 the first day and came back with a 14 stroke improvement the second day with a 67. Ironically, the biggest negative turnaround came from Preton Richards.
