Tiger Wins Memorial With Spectacular Shot; Summerhays Finishes Fourth
Tiger Woods spectacularly holed a high lob shot on the 16th hole and then birdied the 18th hole to win the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Sunday. It was like days of old and Nicklaus, commenting on television, said, “It’s the greatest shot I’ve ever seen.” Don’t worry if you missed it. It will be played back for weeks. Woods birdied three of the last four holes to win by two shots over Rory Sabbatini and Andres Romero.
In the meantime, the focus for Utahns was on the splendid play of Daniel Summerhays who finished in the tied for fourth with a final round 69 that included an eagle on the 15th hole and a birdie on the 18th.
The top five scores were as follows:
279- Tiger Woods, 70-69-73-67
281- Andres Romero, 69-73-72-67; Rory Sabbatini, 69-69-71-72
283- Daniel Summerhays, 69-71-74-69; Spencer Levin, 67-72-69-75
