St. Joseph Leads 1A Prep Tourney at Halfway Point

St. Joseph proved to be marginally deeper than the rest of the field and thus holds an eight shot lead going into the final round of the Class 1A Utah State High School championship being held at Southgate Golf Course in St. George. However, an nine shot lead is very fragile in a contest where the low four scores count for the team total. St. Joseph stands at 328 and Layton Christian is within striking distance with a first round tally of 337.

Jared Kenny shot an opening round 75 to lead St. Joseph, but Layton Christian had two players shoot 75, Jaece Stokes and Austin Geddings.

Rich High School is another nine shots back.

The final round will be held Tuesday at Southgate. The tournament is being conducted by the Utah Section of the PGA.
