BYU B Team Kicks A Team Into Gear at Cougar Classic
The BYU A Team suffered a severe jolt during the first round of the Cougar Classic at Riverside Country Club. They got beat by the BYU B Team by five shots. That seemed to be just what the doctor ordered. The A team got into gear for the second round and at the end of the day stand one shot ahead of those guys trying to take their spots. That sets the stage for an interesting third and final round Saturday.
So BYU stands first and second and Colorado State is in third position, only four shots out of the lead.
Southern Utah had a very good first round and was only one shot out of the lead at that point, but posted the highest score on the board in the afternoon round and stands in sixth place.
Mike Jurca, of the BYU B team, is the individual leader going into the final round Saturday morning. He shot rounds of 70-69-139 and leads Utah State Am champion Jeff Evans of Southern Utah and Zahkai Brown of Colorado State by one shot. Evans had the best score of the day, a 67 in the morning round, but posted 73 in the afternoon.
Defending Cougar Classic champion Zac Blair played steady with rounds of 70-71-141 and is still in good position to repeat as medalist.
