Cougar Golfers Off to Slow Start in Conference Tourneys
Three players from St. Mary’s are the leaders on the individual scoreboard of the West Coast Conference Men’s Golf Championships that started today at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister, California, and with the top three players in the field it is no wonder that St. Mary’s has a 14 shot lead with Gonzaga second. BYU is in fourth place, 16 shots behind St. Mary’s.
Jonathan De Los Reye shot a 65 to lead St. Mary’s and that is four shots ahead of two of his teammates who share second place.
Zac Blair led the Cougars with a two under par 70 and he is tied for fifth place individually.
On the women’s side of the conference tournament BYU stands in last place, but not that far out of it. The Cougars are plus 31 after the first round, but only 11 shots out of second place.
San Francisco leads at 10 over par. Maggie Yuan had the best Cougar score with a two over par 74.
