Nick Drost Wins Washington County Am In Playoff

Nick Drost edged Kyle Chappell in a sudden death playoff to win the Washington County Amateur held at Southgate Golf Course Friday and Saturday. They each shot 137 for the 36-hole tourney with Drost shooting an opening round of 66 and Chappell shooting a second day round of 65. It was the 13th consecutive time that a new champion was crowned in the tournament. None of the last 13 champions has won it twice. Good luck next year Nick!!! And the other 12 champions.
The tournament attracted a respectable field, including former State Am champion Dan Horner who finished third. Rhett Rasmussen, one of the up and coming stars of the future, tied with Horner for third place.
Christian Jensen and Afa Vasi, two of Southern Utah’s top players, finished in the top six.
In the Senior Division Jim Kane won by four shots over Martin Zappoli and five shots over Al Simkins.
