Mike Branca Named Director of Rules and Competitions for the UGA
Mike Branca was named the UGA Director of Rules and Competition in 2011. He served as a USGA intern at the UGA for seven months prior to his appointment. Branca has deep roots in Utah golf. He is the son of Ron Branca, the head professional at The Salt Lake Country Club, and the grandson of Tee Branca, who was head professional at The Salt Lake Country Club for more than 50 years and was a charter inductee into the Utah Golf Hall of Fame. His uncle is Don Branca, former State Am champion, and former head professional at Willow Creek Country Club and former part owner of Mulligans in South Jordan. Branca is a talented golfer. He played college golf at the University of Utah and finished 12th in the conference championship his final year. He has won several local tournaments and has advanced to match play in the State Am. Branca graduated from Brighton High School, served a mission for the LDS Church in Mexico City, and graduated from the University of Utah in economics with a minor in Spanish. He married Sarah Hammond who is also a Brighton High graduate. She graduated from Utah State University and is now employed at the University of Utah in the Executive MBA program as academic coordinator
