Finau Only Utahn Left in Nationwide’s Utah Championship

After the second round cut Tony Finau is the only Utahn left standing in the Nationwide’s Utah Championship being played this weekend at Willow Creek Country Club.

Finau shot a second round 65 to go with his opening round of 71 and he stands in a tie for 25th place. A 25th place finish earns him a spot in the next Nationwide event and so he will need to climb up the leader board in the final two rounds.

Chris Moody and Nick Killpack each missed the cut by one shot with four under par 140 not being good enough. Other Utahns now watching from the sidelines are Luke Swilor, 142; Pete Stone, 149; Matt Baird, 151; Colby Myers, 153.

J.J. Killeen and Jeff Gove are one-two in the tournament. Killeen shot a 62 in the opening round and Gove duplicated it in the second round, but Killeen holds a one shot lead at 129 to Gove’s 130. However, there are 25 players within six shots of the leader and so the tournament remains wide open.
