Girls Jeannie Goddard Memorial: Scramble Tournament for Beginning Girl Golfers Set at Fore Lakes

The annual Girls Jeannie Goddard Memorial Tournament will be held Saturday, July 2nd, at Fore Lakes Golf Course with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. It is a nine-hole scramble event with teams being comprised of a mentor and three girls 19 years old or younger.
“This event is designed to introduce young girls to the game of golf,” said Judy Allem, chair of the event. “We encourage active women golfers to take this opportunity to introduce the game to the younger generation. The scramble format is the perfect format for mentors to bring new players to the game.
Men are also welcome to be mentors at the event. Fathers or brothers are encouraged to bring their daughters or sisters to the tournament.
“All girls are welcome to enter as individuals and a mentor will be assigned to their team,” Allem said, “or a mentor can form her own team.”
The entry fee is $10 per person or $40 per team and entries are being accepted at the Utah Golf Association, 801-563-0400.
After the tournament there will be a lunch, awards, and a short speech by Carol Guest, reigning Mrs. Utah. She is Toni Guest’s daughter-in-law and is the mother of six children. Gage Guest, a former employee of the UGA, and Colby Guest are helping with the event.
