Overson-Horner Come From Behind to Win UGA 2-Man Championship
Dan Horner and Darrin Overson started the final round of the UGA 2-Man Championship five shots behind Robert Smart and Ryan Brinkman and came from behind to win the title by four shots. That was a nine-shot turnaround for the two former Utah State Amateur champions.
Steve Brinton and Kurt Bernhisel won the Senior Division for the second time by shooting 68-70-138 to edge defending champions Richard Cropper and Dick Peacock by three shots.
The women’s division ended in a tie with two teams shooting identical scores for both days. Karen White-Susan Simkins defeated Melissa Stockton-Rina Slade in a sudden death playoff with par on the first playoff hole.
The tournament was played at Sand Hollow in miserable weather conditions that included some snow the final day, but there were no delays and most of the players had cart covers. The first day was a 2-man scramble format and the second day was a 4-ball format.
