Lund-Jolley Repeat 2-Man Title, Lower Own Record

Tyson Lund and Jeff Jolley not only defended their title in the UGA 2-Man Championship this weekend at Sunbrook, but they also broke the tournament record they set last year.

Last year they shot a remarkable 59 in the scramble portion and followed it up with a 67 in the four-ball portion for a tournament record of 126.

This year they shot 62 in the scramble, but came back with a remarkable 63 in the four-ball for a new tournament record of 125.

Last year the tournament was held at Sunbrook on The Pointe and Woodbridge, and Green Spring. This year it was at Sunbrook both days, at The Pointe and Black Rock.

Chance Cota and Jeff Kitches tied last year’s record and finished only one shot behind Lund and Jolley. Cota and Kitches teamed for an 11-under par four-ball score Sunday to finish 65-61-126.

The champions of the other two divisions were also old hands at winning. Dick Peacock and Richard Cropper easily won their second title with a comfortable eight stroke margin over Al Simkins and Jim Kane, and Jodi White and Joyce Billings kept their winning streak intact with a walkway win in the women’s division. This was their fourth title without a loss.

The weather was cold and wet on Saturday, and the course got drenched with heavy rain that night, Sunday’s round didn’t get started until 10 a.m. and although the course was wet the skies were clear and the wind was light. A downpour hit the course just as the last groups finished.
