UGA 8-Man Team Country Club
2008 Rules and Regulations

1. The leagues are under the direction of the Utah Golf Association (UGA). The Regular League is open to all equity and junior dues paying members, but must be at least 21 years of age. The Senior League is open to those 55 and older. The Super Senior League is open to those 65 and older. Refer to Rule 19 for age requirements and team eligibility.
2. The Regular and Senior teams shall each return a $75 entry fee no later than April 15th to the UGA office. There is no charge for the Super Senior teams.
3. Each team shall designate a team captain for all communications and the team captain must make contact with the UGA, (801) 563-0400 or e-mail: uga@uga.org, and provide us with his contact information (i.e. phone, e-mail address, street address, etc.) Please do this ASAP.
4. Each league will be divided into two divisions with all teams playing a home-and-home schedule within the division.
5. The division alignments will be changed each year with the primary objective to see that all clubs play in the same division within a three-year period.
6. The division champions will playoff for the league titles at a neutral site to-be-determined.
7. Won-loss records will determine the division champions. In case of ties the team scoring the most points during the year will be declared the winner. If there is still a tie the team with the best record against each other will be declared the winner, first by wins, and then by points.
8. The scoring in the matches will be nine points per foursome. Player A1 plays Player B1 for one point for the front, one point for the back, and one point for the 18. Player A2 plays player B2 for the same, and Player A1 and A2 play players B1 and B2 in a four-ball match for one point for the front, one point for the back, and one point for the 18. All other foursomes play under the same point system.
9. The professional, or one of the assistants, will play in the number one position unless they cannot play, in which case an amateur will fill the number one position. Only professionals that are affiliated with that course are eligible to compete on the team. A professional who is an equity member of the club may also play, but only one professional can play in each match. A professional may compete in the leagues according to his age, but only on one team during the season.
10. The home team waives the green fees for the visiting team, but cart fees are not waived. Each individual pays for his own cart. The host club is encouraged to host a brief social after each match, but each member of both teams shall pay for the refreshments. Please do not overdo the costs of the social. We encourage all team members to participate in the social.
11. The home team captain shall mail, phone, e-mail or fax the results of all matches as soon as possible after the match. The UGA fax number is (801) 563-0632 and e-mail is uga@uga.org. E-mail is the preferred way. Full names and proper spellings are important.
12. The captains shall determine the playing positions and are encouraged to determine the order of play by skill level, but that is not mandatory.
13. Play shall be by USGA rules, including USGA approved golf clubs and golf balls. The four-ball match, not the individual matches, shall determine honor of play.
14. The official time of each match is at 2:00 p.m. as per the enclosed scheduled. Any team that desires to make a change may do so with the consent of the other team. Please make schedule changes prior to the start of the year, and don't make changes just to accommodate a player or two who can't be there. There are many players interested in participating. All postponed matches must have a firm re-schedule date and must be played before the next schedule round.
15. Once a match has been scheduled it should not be postponed because of minor weather problems. If serious weather problems seem likely the home team captain is urged to re-schedule the match more than 24 hours ahead.
16. The visiting team captain is responsible for contacting the home team captain one day prior to the match to confirm the schedule.
17. Forfeits are intolerable, but if one happens the scoring will be as follows: the team forfeiting will score 0 points. The team winning will be granted its average score in its other matches, or the average score of the opponents of the forfeiting team, whichever is higher. The calculation will include all matches for the year.
18. The match is considered a forfeit if any team fails to have at least seven players.
19. A player may not play on more than ONE 8-man team during the season; this includes Country Club, Country Club Senior, Public Links and Public Links Senior teams. If a player is to become eligible for the older age group during the season (prior to October 1st) he may play on the team at the beginning of the season. He must choose at the beginning of the season. However, if a player sells or buys an equity country club membership he may switch teams.
20. All matches should begin in reverse order, i. e. the 7th and 8th players should be in the first foursome. The visiting team has the honor on the first hole.
21. The UGA will be the arbiter of any disagreements on rules and forfeits. In determining disagreements on forfeits, the UGA will lean heavily to the originally scheduled match.

Super Senior League Addendum
1. The Super Senior League will consist of a four-man team.
2. A team forfeits if it has fewer than three players to begin the match
