Utah State Amateur Qualifying Kicks off at The Ridge; Bassett Captures Medalist Honors

The 2016 Utah State Amateur Qualifying rounds kicked off today at The Ridge Golf Club in West Valley City. As always, the best of the best competed to secure one of the 24 spots and guarantee their advancement to the finals at Alpine Country Club and Fox Hollow Golf Course July 11-16.
Cody Bassett blew the field out of the water by shooting a seven-under-par to earn medalist honors with an unmatched score of 65.
“I got off to a hot start and kept going,” said Bassett. “Today was a great day.”
A hot start is right. In fact, to put it simply, Bassett had a hot round. He started the day three under after the first five holes and shot 32 on the front nine and 33 on the back with eight birdies and one bogey.
“I had a blast, and The Ridge was in great condition. I am really looking forward to playing in the State Am.”
The next Utah State Amateur Qualifying will take place Wednesday, June 1st at Eagle Mountain Golf Course in Brigham City.
