UVU WGolf: Wolverines Close BYU at Entrada in 12th Place

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Utah Valley University women's golf team concluded the BYU at Entrada Classic on Tuesday at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club in St. George in 12th place with a three-round total of 960. UVU carded scores of 320, 312 and 328 en route to tallying 12th-place finish at the at the 54-hole event.
 
Freshman Justine Lauer led the way for the Wolverines by tying for 31st place with a 16-over-par 232. Lauer carded rounds of 75, 76 and 81 on the way to her 31st place finish.
 
Sophomore Carly Dehlin finished right behind Lauer by tying for 37th place at 18-over-par with a three-round total of 234. Dehlin recorded scores of 78, 77 and 79 en route to her top-40 finish. The Draper, Utah, native led the way for the Wolverines in birdies at the two-day tournament by carding a total of nine.
 
Fellow sophomore Ana Raga was next with a 23-over 239 (82-79-78) to tie for 49th place, while senior Kimberly Nyhus took 67th with a 264 (85-89-90) and redshirt freshman Kaylee Shimizu placed 68th (93-80-92—265). Individuals Isabella Lesa (87-87-84—258) and Monica Yeates (85-96-92—273) also competed for the Wolverines at the event, and capped their 2017 BYU at Entrada runs in 65th and 70th places, respectively.   
 
No. 12 Kent State won the event with a 2-over-par 866 (289-286-291), while the host Cougars took second at 15-over (299-294-286—879) and Tulsa finished in a distant third at 42-over (293-312-301—906).
 
Kent State's Karoline Stormo took home individual medalist honors at the tournament after posting a 4-under-par 212 (68-72-72).
 
Utah Valley will continue their week in St. George at Southern Utah's Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational on Thursday and Friday (March 16-17) at the Sunbrook Golf Club. Following the conclusion of the trip, UVU will head to Roseville, California, on March 20-21 for the Sacramento State Invitational.
