UVU WGolf: UVU Women’s Golf Finishes 14th at Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

MARICOPA, Ariz.—The Utah Valley University women's golf team tied for 14th in the 18-team field at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic after shooting a final-round 21-over-par 309 on Friday at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club to finish the tournament with a three-round score of 62-over-par 926 (312-305-309).
 
Utah Valley tied CSU Northridge for the 14th spot on the team leaderboard at 926 (+62). The Wolverines finished ahead of in-state rival Weber State (+74) in 15th and WAC foe Grand Canyon (+77) in 18th. UC Irvine won the tournament with a three-round score of 10-over-par 874.
 
Sophomore Ana Raga shot a final-round 4-over-par 76 on Friday to lead the Wolverines with a three-round score of 11-over-par 227 (75-76-76) to finish in a tie for 34th. Raga registered 14 pars and just four bogies in Friday's final round.
 
Carly Dehlin carded a final-round 5-over-par 77 on Friday to finish in a tie for 41st with a three-day total of 13-over-par 229 (77-75-77). The sophomore tallied one birdie and 11 pars on her final round scorecard.
 
Freshman Justine Lauer tied for 52nd on the individual leaderboard with a three-round score of 16-over-par 232 (83-73-76). Lauer carded a 4-over-par 76 in Friday's final round, recording three birdies on the day.  Senior Kimberly Nyhus shot an 8-over-par 80 in Friday's final round to finish in a tie for 78th with a three-day score of 22-over-par 238 (77-81-80).
 
Kaylee Shimizu rounded out the scoring with a 10-over-par 82 on Friday. The redshirt freshman placed 99th with a three-round score of 42-over-par 258 (84-92-82).
 
The Wolverines will remain in Arizona as the team gets ready to compete in the Bobcat Spring Invitational, April 10-11, at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear.
