OGDEN, Utah - Thunderbird senior Fidel Concepcion has been named Co-Men’s Golfer of the Week by the Big Sky Conference following his performance at the Price’s “Give ‘Em Five” Invitational at Butterfield Trail Golf Club in El Paso, Texas. He shared with recognition with Hartford’s Ambrose Abbracciamento.

Concepcion opened play in El Paso with a three-under 68, which put him in a tie for sixth on the leaderboard after the first of three days. Following that round, he shot even on back-to-back days to bring his final total of the event to 210. He stayed in the same spot that he claimed on the opening day, finishing the event in a tie for sixth.

Concepcion is no stranger to earning this title. Last season along, the native of Australia claimed four different Golfer of the Week accolades.

This is the first Big Sky recognition this season the men’s golf program has earned.

With the fall season in the books, the Thunderbirds have turned their attention to their spring campaign. SUU’s first event in the spring will be their home event, as they’ll host the 2018 Pizza Hut-Pat Hicks Invitational on February 12-13 at Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, Utah.
